Fireboy and Watergirl: The Forest Temple is one of the most beloved cooperative puzzle-platformers ever made for browsers. At its heart, it's a game about two opposites working together: Fireboy, a glowing red elemental who thrives in lava but melts in water, and Watergirl, a cool blue spirit who glides through water but evaporates in fire. Together, they must navigate an ancient Forest Temple filled with levers, switches, colored pools, and gravity-defying platforms.
What makes this game special is that neither character can complete the temple alone. Fireboy can pass through the red fire pools safely, while Watergirl must navigate the blue water pools. The green murky pools are deadly to both. Every room is a carefully designed logic puzzle that requires you to control both characters simultaneously — using WASD for one and Arrow Keys for the other — coordinating their movements to hit switches that open doors for the other player.
How to Play Fireboy and Watergirl
Each level presents a series of rooms with an exit door for each character marked by a flame (for Fireboy) and a water droplet (for Watergirl). Both characters must reach their respective exits simultaneously to complete the level. Along the way, collect the colored diamonds scattered throughout each room — red diamonds for Fireboy, blue for Watergirl, and green for either.
The puzzles revolve around pressure plates, levers, and moveable crates. Step on a pressure plate with one character to open a door for the other. Push a crate under a platform so the other can reach a higher ledge. Time your jumps carefully — the physics are deliberate, and mistimed leaps can send you into a deadly pool.

Tips & Tricks
- Stop and survey: Before moving anyone, look at the whole room. Identify every lever, plate, pool, and diamond location.
- Move one at a time: Park one character safely and focus all attention on moving the other through a tricky section before switching.
- Don't skip diamonds: Collecting all diamonds earns a perfect score — and some later levels lock difficulty unless you've mastered earlier ones.
- Play cooperatively: On a keyboard, a friend can control one character while you control the other. This is the intended experience and dramatically easier than solo play.
